El estudio técnico exhaustivo de un importante enconchado mexicano que represena una Adoración de los Magos, obra de Juan González de Villaverde (activo entre 1689 y 1698), desveló una técnica de ejecución extraordinariamente compleja y sofisticada: mostraba combinaciones de sustancias aglutinantes de distinta naturaleza, así como el empleo abundante de colorantes orgánicos, oro y plata. La interpretaión de las sucesiones estratipográficas también se mostró especialmente reveladora, pues aportó una visión totalmente nueva de este tipo de obras, frente a las limitadas y vagas referencias técnicas que podían encontrarse en la bibliografía existente hasta el momento. |
